“Safeguarding Our Neighborhoods”

The Solvay Police are happy to bring you information regarding your local Neighborhood Watch Program.

Neighborhood Watch teaches citizens how to help themselves by identifying and reporting suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. Neighborhood Watch also provides citizens with the opportunity to make their neighborhoods safer and improve the quality of life. Neighborhood Watch is about observation and awareness as a means of preventing crim.

All Neighborhood Watches share one foundational idea: That bringing community members together to re-establish control of their neighborhoods which promotes an increased quality of life and reduces the crime rate in that area.

The reason for this effectiveness is rather simple: Involving community members in watch programs decreases the opportunities for criminals to commit crimes rather than attempting to change their behavior or motivation.

All Neighborhood Watch Program meetings are held at the Solvay-Geddes Youth Center, at 6:00 pm in the Tigers Room on the second Monday of each month (UNLESS OTHERWISE POSTED).

The Solvay-Geddes Youth Center is located at:

1010 Woods Road

Solvay, NY 13209
