 THE SOLVAY POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Village of Solvay Police Department has a rich history of of providing dedicated law enforcement service to our citizens, a history of dedicated service that spans over 100 years. 

The Village of Solvay Police Department has 16 sworn officers. It is comprised of the Chief of Police, 1 Lieutenant, 3 Sergeants, 1 Investigator, 8 Full-time Officers, 2 Part-time Officers, and 2 Civilian employees.  Services provided include 24-hour patrol coverage, crime scene processing, accident investigation, community policing and youth education programs. 

The Solvay Police Department is a highly trained and full service professional law enforcement agency.  Solvay Police Officers attend over forty hours of annual in-service and professional development training.  Currently the Solvay Police Department has certified Crime Scene Specialists, NYS Certified Police Instructors, NYS MPTC Certified Firearms Instructors, CPR/AED Instructors, and Crisis Negotiators.  Specialized training includes Article 35 and Use of Force, Firearms, DWI Enforcement, DataMaster Operator, Crisis Intervention and Taser. 

The department regularly host or participates in various meetings including the Solvay Neighborhood Watch, Solvay Seniors meetings, Coffee with the Chief, Solvay Summer Festival, and Solvay High School Sporting and Academic Events.
