Prescription Drug Drop Box Program

Effective 01/20/23 The Solvay Police will no longer be able to take expired, and or unwanted medications as the funding for this program is no longer available.  We will keep you posted if and when we are able to bring this program back.

Please check with your local pharmacies as they may be able to assist with the disposal of unwanted and expired medications.

In an effort to combat the growing narcotics and prescription pill abuse that is ever growing across our country we have partnered with Onondaga County and placed a drug drop box in the lobby of the Solvay Police Department located at 507 Charles Avenue, Solvay, NY 13209.

Anyone who wishes can stop in at during the hours of 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday thru Friday (EXCEPT FOR HOLIDAYS) and drop any unwanted or unused/expired drugs in the box and there is no questions asked.

NEEDLES ARE NOT ABLE TO BE DROPPED OFF IN THIS BOX AT THIS TIME.

All we ask is that you black out your personal information but leave the name of the drug on the container so that narcotics can be separated. These narcotics are then turned over to Onondaga County so they can be safely disposed of instead of being flushed back into our water systems where they can contaminate our communities.

Anyone with any questions on how this was made possible can call the Solvay Police Department at 315-468-2510 (Mon-Fri, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, EXCEPT FOR HOLIDAYS).
